Course Aim
The main aim of the Diploma for Beauty Specialists (beauty therapist course) is to enable Learners to provide treatments for the purposes of relaxation and improving the condition of the skin and nails. We will work with you to develop a wide range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Beauty Specialist.
Upon completion of the Part Time Beauty Therapy Course, the student will be fully qualified and competent to work as a Beauty Specialist / Beauty Therapist in a salon, spa, department store. You could also work as a mobile or home therapist.
Learner Profile
The minimum age for entry to this course is 16. Education level to Leaving cert standard or equivalent. A person displaying a high level of interpersonal skills excellent communication, listening skills, empathy, patience, tact, diplomacy and timekeeping. A well-groomed appearance as well as a positive can-do approach is essential.
We conduct an interview with all our candidates to ensure that this course is suitable for you. The interview also offers the new students time to ask us any questions they may have before they start on our course.
Progression
Once you have completed this beauty course you can move on to: Advanced Waxing, Holistic Massage, Nail Technology, Hot Stone, Spa Therapy, Gel nails.
SUBJECTS
Skin and Eye Treatments
Facials, superficial cleanse, skin analysis, deep cleansing, facial massage and facemasks. Eyes, eyelash/brow tinting and eyebrow shaping (tweezing). You will also learn the anatomy and physiology of the face, neck and shoulders.
Makeup
to include looks such as: Light day makeup, Evening makeup, Special Occasion makeup and Bridal makeup. You will also learn about cosmetic science.
Manicure and Pedicure
to include looks such as: Light day makeup, Evening makeup, Special Occasion makeup and Bridal makeup. You will also learn about cosmetic science.
Waxing
½ leg, full leg, underarm, bikini, forearm, lip and chin. You will also study anatomy and physiology, the structure of the hair and the endocrine system.
Business to include
Consultation, Contra-indications, Hygiene, Health and Safety, Client Care, Insurance, Business terminology and professionalism.
